Our Competion

Welcome back
The children enjoyed the lovely weather during the half term break, our Year 2 children are sitting the SATS over the next few weeks and in between are doing lots of exciting things. They are off to Think Tank in Birmingham, what a great time they'll have!

The homework for the whole school (including our Nursery, was to design a piece of playground equipment. The children could draw, paint or construct the design.

Photos have been taken of all the childrens models and there will be three winners from each year group.
We've taken photos of some of our models, please have a look and tell us what you think.

Playground Partnership

Thank you for visiting our blog, we will update this blog regularly so keep an eye out for your child's work!We have been given a rare opportunity to show off our children’s work by way of a national competition. The prize is ₤10,000 to spend on playground equipment. Our children need to ‘own’ the entry; therefore we have planned two weeks of focused activities with this theme. This will give the children an opportunity to research, plan and evaluate what activities they would like to spend the money on to improve our playground. Some children have already decided a climbing frame would be great fun! And others would like a trampoline!
Please find time to look at our work and leave us your thoughts. If you and your family have some playground activities you would like to tell us about. then be sure to leave a comment!.scroll to the bottom of this page to read others comments.

Making Models

We used building materials to make models of our favorite playground activities.

We drew our playtime actvity wish

I would like a playhouse, with a dressing up chest in!

We would like a climbing frame with a climbing wall and slide. We could put it in the middle of our racing track. We could play look out from the top!

Our playtime poems!

In our literacy class we wrote our own playtime rhymes.

Do you have a playtime poem you would like to share?
Leave it in our comment box!

Our wish plan

The children were given a A3 map of the playground, they drew the activity they wished for.

Many children wish for a climbing frame and a playhouse. keep your eye on this blog to find out what the children finally decide upon.

Playtime poems

We wrote a poem with the theme "playtime"

We copied our poems to microsoft word, we changed the colour and size of our writing.

We inserted a picture from clip art.

Our poems have been put on our "playground partnership display" in our school hall.

Music and singing

Class 9 were thinking about poetry, they used a poem all about playtime to practice with their friends. They used musical instruments to help with the rhythm. Once they practiced this, they said their poem in front of their friends.

Look out for our own playtime poems later in this blog!

Measuring

In maths we needed to get the measurements of the playground, we worked with our friends, this helped as we could check each others work.

We used metre sticks and metre wheels, one of use measured whilst the other recorded.
When we got back to our classroom we transferred the measurements onto a plan.

Practice Budgets

In maths, we practiced working to a budget. we picked which activities we would like, then we worked out if we had enough money.

Our playground now

Our children spent time drawing the playground as it is now.
